Welcome[edit]

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia!

Someone using this IP address, 203.219.171.186, made test edits on the page Echidna which have been reverted or removed. If you did this, please use the sandbox for any other tests you may want to do. If 203.219.171.186 is a shared IP address and you did not do this, you may wish to consider getting a username to avoid confusion with other editors and further irrelevant notices.

Here are a few good links for newcomers:

Here are some other hints and tips:

  • I recommend that you get a username. You do not have to log in to read or edit articles on Wikipedia, but creating an account is quick, free and non-intrusive, requires no personal information, and there are many benefits of having a username. (If you edit without a username, your IP address is used to identify you instead.)
  • When using talk pages, please sign your name at the end of your messages by typing four tildes (~~~~). This will automatically produce your username (or IP address) and the date.

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, visit the Teahouse, our help forum for new users, or type {{helpme}} here on your talk page and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Again, welcome! HiLo48 (talk) 02:27, 23 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please do not add or change content, as you did at Echidna, without citing a reliable source. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you. Bahudhara (talk) 03:02, 23 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. You appear to be repeatedly reverting or undoing other editors' contributions at Echidna. Although this may seem necessary to protect your preferred version of a page, on Wikipedia this is known as "edit warring" and is usually seen as obstructing the normal editing process, as it often creates animosity between editors. Instead of reverting, please discuss the situation with the editor(s) involved and try to reach a consensus on the talk page.

If editors continue to revert to their preferred version they are likely to lose their editing privileges on that page. This isn't done to punish an editor, but to prevent the disruption caused by edit warring. In particular, editors should be aware of the three-revert rule, which says that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Edit warring on Wikipedia is not acceptable in any amount, and violating the three-revert rule is very likely to result in loss of your editing privileges. Thank you. Bahudhara (talk) 03:59, 23 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Warning: I will block this IP and any other IP that continues edit warring. For example, it is not satisfactory to repeat edits at Echidna. Instead, discuss the matter on the article talk page (Talk:Echidna) and engage with other editors by trying to justify your proposed changes. Johnuniq (talk) 06:09, 27 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Anonymous users from this IP address have been blocked temporarily from editing for abuse of editing privileges.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  Johnuniq (talk) 08:10, 31 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
If this is a shared IP address and you are an uninvolved editor with a registered account, you may continue to edit by logging in.

As explained, edit warring is not permitted. When the block expires, you must wait for consensus on the article talk page before trying to repeat your proposed changes. Johnuniq (talk) 08:10, 31 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
