Now, the note includes that some people in South Asia prefer the term "momos." Even looking at ancient history of this page, it was always "momo" until only very recently, which is certainly why even the page is titled "momo", so this change fixes that as well. The -s plural “momos” should be used consistently in this article. Also added the Tibetan for various translations, corrected some romanizations, cleaned up formatting, and added some text explaining that “dhapu” comes from Chinese da bao 大包, meaning “big bun”. Nepalese -> Nepali.
  • curprev 14:4414:44, 2 November 2023Hermes Thrice Great talk contribs 18,292 bytes −67 “Momo” is not a “colloquial” form, it’s a romanization/phonetic transcription of the Standard Tibetan pronunciation of the word མོག་མོག (Wylie: mog mog). The “g” suffix letter ག at the end of མོག is not pronounced in Standard Tibetan. There is no need for this source having removed this misleading “colloquial” claim. As for the remaining text, pronunciation and/or transcription of basic words is never cited on Wikipedia unless the it itself forms part of a contentious scholarly issue.
